Celebrity baby shower connoisseur and fashion insider Jayneoni Moore pampered star parents at the 2014 Pre-Emmy Boom Boom Room event. Held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the event gave celeb parents the chance to learn all about the latest must-have baby and parenting gear on the market, such as L’ovedbaby‘s eco-friendly baby wear in earthy tones and Kabrita‘s goat milk yogurt and baby formula.
This year, TV journalist Lisa Ling, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s Alfonso Ribeiro, actress Angie Everhart, and actress/comedian Kym Whitley attended the event to discover the latest parenting must-haves. Celebrity Baby Scoop was also in attendance and caught up with the stars.
We ran into Lisa Ling who gave us the latest update on daughter Jett and why she enjoys attending this event:
“It is great!” the TV journalist said. “There are so many hardworking people who are trying to create great products for babies, and I really appreciate them wanting to get them out there. You know, all of the people who are in here are parents. They’ve had experience with kids, so I really admire their tenacity in wanting to get their products out.”
On her daughter Jett, 17 months, she said:
“She is starting to talk a lot and she’s very independent. If I try to do something for her, she will move my hand away because she wants to do it herself. Our nanny doesn’t speak any English, she only speaks Chinese, my husband’s mother only speaks Korean to her, and we only speak English to her. She can comprehend three different languages! It’s not so much that she’s smart, she is just picking up the languages really well. We are thrilled about it.”
And what has she been working on lately?
“We have a new show on CNN that is starting in the fall, called This Is Life. It is a documentary series,” Lisa said.
While checking out the renowned NuzzleHUG thermal breast and neck therapy warmer, Celebrity Baby Scoop caught up with actress and model mom Angie Everhart. The mom-of-two was happy to give us the scoop on the highlights of the day and motherhood.
“I got stuff for all the kids and I even got the NuzzleHUG warmer that helps women who are lactating,” she said. “I am going to use it because I have neck problems. My kids are loving Boom Boom Room and are having a great time.”
Angie went on to chat about motherhood and her favorite mommy moments.
“Last night, my son came up to me. I had holes in my jeans and he kissed my leg where one of the holes was and said, ‘I love you mommy!’ When they do it voluntarily and you don’t have to ask for a kiss, it’s the best thing ever.”
And do her two kids get along well?
“They get along like brothers and sisters,” Angie said. “Some days, yes, and some days, no. When there is a sleepover, then no. [laughs] We had a sleepover last night and she didn’t want to have anything to do with him!”
When asked about this year’s back-to-school transition, Angie shared, “Our son went from pre-school to kindergarten this year, which was a big deal for him…I said I wasn’t going to be one of those mothers who cried on the first day, but I cried.” [laughs]
Amidst checking out Amy Tangerine’s scrapbooking must-haves, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor and DWTS alum Alfonso Ribeiro, dad of two, shared why he enjoys checking out all the parenting gear:
“It is a lot of fun! We’ve been here before, but for me it is always great because my wife gets to come and see all the things that will help make her life and AJ’s life easier. We got all kinds of great stuff for my eleven-year-old daughter. It’s always fun to come out and see what the great new products are. Every phase of parenting that you go through, you really learn more and more about the things that you need to make your life easier. These products help do that, so it’s always fun to attend.”
And how was the back-to-school experience for this proud papa?
“Back-to-school is always tough, because my daughter never wants to go back. She is always like, ‘Can I just stay?’” Alfonso shared.
The actor also shared his favorite part about fatherhood: “Sitting on the couch and having your kids just kind of hugging on you…that’s the best.”
At the booth for Whimsical Charm‘s comfy and stylish baby blankets, actress, comedian, and mom-of-one Kym Whitley shared her excitement about the event and her OWN show, Raising Whitley.
“I love coming to the Boom Boom Room! Jayneoni Moore does a great job. Of course, anything that has to do with food as well. [laughs] I love the Go-Go Apple Sauce because I eat it all the time, and I’m also a fan of the Cotton Babies Diapers and the new Child Locator. That is so awesome. All of the products are great and I always have a good time. Learning new products is the most important thing. Not only am I a new mom, but I also meet a lot of new mothers. Because my show Raising Whitley is about being a mom, a lot of moms ask me questions. The more knowledgeable I am about new products, the better I am able to serve the public,” she shared.
She went on to talk about how her three-year-old son, Joshua, was doing.
“Joshua is in preschool and he loves it. He is only in it three days a week, but I am trying to get him in five days a week. That is the biggest thing right now. I am house hunting right now, but with a child, the school district becomes the main thing, not the house! When I was single, I was like, ‘I am going to get a house anywhere!’ Now it is this whole thing.”
And what is up next for the actress?
“We have Raising Whitley on the Oprah Winfrey Network and we are in season three right now,” Kym shared. “We just filmed me doing standup at Tommy T’s in Oakland. You are going to see some different characters on the show!”
